Documents Required for Company Registration in India

Get your company registration documents in order before you begin. This free India entry checklist brings together the parent-company papers, director KYC, SPICe+ steps and RBI reporting for foreign companies, founders and NRIs.

In short: To register a company in India you mainly need the parent company's board resolution and incorporation documents (apostilled or attested), each director's passport and address proof, and proof of an Indian registered office. You then file SPICe+ with the MCA and report the investment to the RBI in FC-GPR within 30 days. Our free checklist lists every document and step on one page.

The documents and steps to register a company in India — for foreign companies, founders and NRIs. One page, no fluff.

What's inside: Documents for the parent company and directors, the SPICe+ registration steps, FC-GPR/RBI reporting and the year-one compliance list.

The incorporation and share-capital steps below are for an Indian company: FC-GPR is due within 30 days of share allotment for reportable foreign investment. Branch, liaison and project offices and LLPs follow different establishment and reporting procedures. NRI/OCI investment under Schedule IV on a non-repatriation basis is treated as domestic investment and does not require FC-GPR. GST and FLA obligations depend on applicability; Form 3CEB covers international or specified domestic transactions, not every related-party transaction. TDS deposits are generally monthly, while TDS returns are quarterly.
